MONTREAL — Lion Electric has obtained final certification for its heavy-duty (HD) battery pack called LionBattery HD, a lithium-ion battery pack specifically designed for the company’s heavy-duty trucks.
Lion Electric achieved certification for the LionBattery HD pack after conducting testing with third-party partners. The battery pack now meets the required safety and performance standards in the automotive industry.
These 105 kWh proprietary battery packs will power the Lion8 Tractor which was unveiled in May this year during the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Las Vegas.
Last year, Lion announced the certification of its medium-duty (MD) battery pack called LionBattery MD pack designed for medium-duty trucks and school buses.
“With major battery development milestones behind us, we will now focus on optimizing the integration of both the LionBattery MD and HD packs on our vehicles, which should ultimately translate into production efficiency,” Marc Bedard, CEO-founder of Lion said.
