SUDBURY — On Apr. 25, Cambrian College announced a substantial donation from Parker Hannifin, a manufacturer of motion and control technologies providing solutions for a variety of mobile, industrial and aerospace markets. This contribution is comprised of a variety of hydraulic hardware, controllers, electrification components, as well as associated software licenses and training for faculty. The integration of this equipment will amplify Cambrian’s capacity to provide education in Electric Vehicle maintenance and training within its Heavy Equipment Technician and Motive Power Technician -Truck and Coach programs.

“We are pleased to partner with Cambrian College through our donation of state-of-the art mobile electrification equipment,” says Parker Hannifin’s National Sales Manager Mark Scholz. “This underscores Parker Hannifin’s commitment to supporting education and innovation in mobile electrification on the next generation of mining equipment.”

In addition to the equipment and training support, Parker Hannifin has also made a donation toward the construction of Cambrian College’s new Electric Vehicle Lab, located within the college’s Centre for Smart Mining in the Glencore Centre for Innovation. This facility serves as a hub for research and development, fostering collaboration between academia and industry.

“We are so grateful for Parker Hannifin generous contribution, which significantly bolsters our academic offerings and underscores our commitment to preparing students for the jobs of the future,” says Cambrian’s Vice-President Academic Janice Clarke. “This partnership will have a profound impact on our college community, empowering both our students and industry partners with invaluable training and research resources.”

In recognition of Parker’s remarkable generosity, Cambrian College will acknowledge the company in one of its industrial training labs, now named the Parker Heavy Equipment and Truck and Coach Lab.
